The Paleo Rodeo #216

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Paleo Rodeo!

The Paleo Rodeo is a weekly blog carnival featuring the best paleo-related posts by members of the PaleoBloggers e-mail list. The past editions of the Rodeo are collected on this page.

What is “paleo”? As I say in Modern Paleo Principles:

A “paleo” approach to health uses the evolutionary history of homo sapiens, plus the best of modern science, as a broad framework for guiding daily choices about diet, fitness, medicine, and supplementation. The core of paleo is the diet: it eschews grains, sugars, and modern vegetable oils in favor of high-quality meat, fish, eggs, and vegetables.

The purpose of The Paleo Rodeo is to highlight some of the best blogging of the ever-growing paleosphere.

Here is this week’s edition:

Ruth presents Soy Sauce on Trial for Crimes Against Paleo posted at Paleo Diet Basics, saying, “Soy sauce: yea or nay? Can gluten-free soy sauce be included on a paleo diet or now. Click to find out!”

Eileen Laird presents The Great Starch Experiment posted at Phoenix Helix, saying, “I came to paleo through the GAPS diet doorway, which is a low-starch version of the paleo diet. When I switched to the paleo autoimmune protocol, I continued to eat low-starch. I had seen a lot of improvement and didn’t want to risk worsening symptoms. After 18 months, I decided it was time to test the low-starch theory. Did I really need to avoid them? The paleo community (including the Paleo Mom) recommend starch consumption, and as ‘safe starches” become more and more popular, GAPS is becoming more and more criticized. I spent the winter slowly reintroducing starches into my diet and monitoring my body’s response. Are you curious about my results?”

Kris Gunnars presents How Blocking Blue Light at Night Can Transform Your Sleep posted at Authority Nutrition, saying, “By blocking blue light in the evening, you can prevent the disruption in the natural sleep-wake cycle caused by artificial lighting and electronics.”

Steve Kirsch presents #100HappyDays: silly fluff, or a secret Zen trick? posted at The Paleo Drummer, saying, “When I realized what that ‘100 Happy Days” meme is *really* about, it made me… happy.”

Tarah presents Berrylicious Fruit Pizza (Paleo / Primal) posted at What I Gather, saying, “A perfect summer treat with a sweet and nutty crust, yogurt ‘frosting” and lots of fresh fruit! Make it Primal with the high quality dairy yogurt of your choice, or Paleo with coconut yogurt.”

Jennifer Brand presents Alliefitfoodie posted at Alliefitfoodie, saying, “I’ve been absent from blogging for several months now because I’ve let life get the better of me. I’m back! I was inspired by a primal pizza I made and just had to write about it. Food as inspiration, yeah, sounds about right ;).”

Sean and Suzanne presents Bison Back Ribs with Sriracha Peach BBQ Sauce posted at Pastured Kitchen, saying, “Recipe for grilled Bison Back Ribs (or Beef Spare Ribs) with a flavorful Sriracha Peach BBQ sauce.”

Sean and Suzanne presents Review: The Paleo Kitchen | Gingersnap Pumpkin Butter Cookie Sandwiches posted at Pastured Kitchen, saying, “A review of the new cookbook from Civilized Caveman and PaleOMG, The Paleo Kitchen. Includes a teaser recipe for Gingersnap Pumpkin Butter Cookie Sandwiches and a giveaway for a signed copy.”

Kevin Geary presents 10 Unconventional Tools for Health and Fitness Minimalists posted at Rebooted Body- Ancestral Science and Modern Psychology, saying, “This post talks about various tools such as lacrosse balls, kettlebells, sandbags and other fitness products for the exercise minimalist. Great information for people looking to work out from home or with minimal equipment.”

Diane Sanfilippo presents Podcast Episode #141 posted at Balanced Bites , saying, “Healthy tv/movie snacks, nightshades, oral allergies, birth control and dark skin spots, and eating bacon and sausage.”

Nell Stephenson presents Thin Mints- Girl Scout Cookies, E-Cigarettes… or Both? posted at Paleoista, by Nell Stephenson, saying, “Paleo expert Nell Stephenson comments on the controversy between Girl Scout Cookies and E-Cigarettes regarding using the same name and the fact that the Girl Scouts are the ones promoting an addictive substance.”
